Medical Assistant – Jeffersonville & Dupont (multiple at both locations)

Skills/Requirements: First Urology is the largest urology practice in Louisville, KY and Southern IN. If you are seeking a position close to home, one of our 19 office locations may be convenient for you. Office hours are Monday-Friday, no weekends and paid holidays. Eligible for most company benefits in 30 days. We offer a competitive salary and a company sponsored retirement plan to assist our staff with their future financial goals.

As a First Urology Medical Assistant, you will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication. The target is to complete all activities accurately, with high quality and in a timely manner. Urology is a dynamic and specialized field and our medical assistants are also trained in assisting with procedures.

Medical Appointment Scheduler / Phones – Dupont, Louisville

Skills/Requirements: Immediate need for Medical Appointment Schedulers in our call center, Saint Matthews area. Great position for those interested in entering the medical field.

No evenings, weekends, or holidays. Insurance in 30 days, paid holidays upon hire. Uniform allowance after 90 days.

Excellent customer service skills, attention to detail and dependability a must.

HS Diploma or GED required. Previous experience in a medical office or call center a plus.

Front Desk – Downtown & Jeffersonville

Job Skills/Requirements: Responsibilities include helping patients that come in to the office for appointments by checking them in and updating information verbally and in EMR, obtaining/updating insurance information and collecting copays. Scheduling appointments electronically, answering phones, taking and answering messages and other duties that may be assigned by the Manager. Must be able to multi-task as this is a very busy office with multiple providers and locations. Some travel to other satellite offices within the Louisville area may be required.

Certified Coder – Jeffersonville

Job Skills/Requirements:

  • Office visits and procedures, pathology, imaging and special drugs administered and sold by First Urology.
  • Charges may come in paper or electronic format.
  • Audit charges received in order to file clean claims to insurance companies.
  • Become familiar with codes, LCD’s, bundling rules, global rules, etc. as needed to get claims paid in a timely manner.
  • File your claims to primary insurances.
  • Work rejections on your Clearing House by correcting claims or request assistance in doing so from the Coding Department AR personnel.
  • Your duties may also include running reports and making sure payments have been attached to the claims.
  • Attend webinars and seminars to keep up to date on coding education and insurance company requirements.
  • Offer assistance as your expertise fits to schedulers or other personnel.
  • Help train new department employees.
  • Take on other projects as requested by your manager.

Precertification Specialist – Jeffersonville

Job Skills/Requirements: 
The Insurance Verification Specialist works to ensure that patients’ health care benefits will cover required visits or services.

  • A high school diploma or GED.
    • 1 year experience working with medical billing, coding and associated procedures
    • A minimum 1 year experience working with medical claims data, current charge master pricing, payer-specific insurance contract terms (deductibles, OOP and coinsurance)
    • Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA confidentiality requirements.
    • Ability to make basic, accurate mathematical calculations
    • Ability to respond to questions in a tactful and professional manner
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Demonstrated data entry and pc skills, advanced software use including MS Office.
    • I year of customer service skills.
    • Typing speed minimum 35 wpm.
    • Successful clearance screen through the Office of Inspector General (OIG) for federal health programs.

Surgery Scheduler – Jeffersonville

Job Skills/Requirements:

  • Answering incoming surgical calls.
  • Explain procedure and answer patient questions.
  • Explain and instruct patients on time, date, location, and pre-op instructions.
  • Schedule all surgeries coordinating with hospitals and surgical centers as well as scheduling in-office procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with current healthcare regulations, medical law and ethics.
  • This position also obtains insurance pre-certification for procedures and informs facility of patient’s insurance and requirements.
  • Must complete a Kasper report when needed prior to patient’s surgery.
  • Obtain all cardiac or PCP clearances. Obtain all results of tests ordered prior to surgery.
  • Make up H&P Chart for physicians. 
  • Maintain physician’s calendar with all scheduled cases, depositions, on-call schedules, and personal appointments. 
  • Track and submit physician vacation schedules. Monitor office schedule. 
  • Complete all tasks required by physician in a timely manner.
  • Follow recalls for cancer patients. Other duties or tasks as assigned by the physician or the manager. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
